I am working through an old college book that I should have read in college. It has been a remarkable read that has both renewed my passion for scripture and my understanding of how to read that scripture. If you get a change check out Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart’s book How To Read The Bible For All It’s Worth. It is a great guide to reading your Bible. It gives you a beginners look at things like contextualization, exegesis, hermeneutic (yeah that’s a big word), genre, how the Bible got from B.C. Israel in Hebrew to the 21st century English Bibles that you hold in your hand, and much more. If you can swing by the library or even by yourself a copy, I recommend it.
